Captain Budd is a Hawaiian artist that is well known for his digital fantasy art, paintings, and scrimshaw work. His interest in the sea and its many treasures is evident in the way he depicts its myths and legends. His work is rendered with infinite attention to detail. With painstaking care he captures the color and excitement of the mystical wonders of the deep; dragons, mermaids, sunken ships, and the treasures of the deep are some of the many visions of the hidden enchanted world that he delights the viewer with. Captain Budd, a student of art from an early age, graduated from the Art Student's League in New York City in 1965. He is also accomplished in the glazing technique of oil painting. He has exhibited prize-winning art at juried shows in most of the major cities throughout the United States. His experience as a scuba diver has allowed him to capture lights and shadows as they only can be seen from the ocean floor. | ||

Attracted by the crystal blue waters, he first came to Hawaii in 1969. Then, in 1973,
after extensive world travel, he returned to Hawaii and established his home and studio
on the island of Oahu. His work is diplayed in fine galleries throughout the United States
and has been exhibited in museums.
